Savitribai Phule, the first woman teacher of India, was a fearless pioneer of women’s education and one of the foremost social reformers of the 19th century. She dedicated her entire life to the upliftment of women, the oppressed, and the marginalized sections of society. Along with Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, she played a vital role in establishing the first girls’ school in India and strongly opposed social evils such as caste discrimination, child marriage, and untouchability.
